Shinyanga

Shinyanga Region (Mkoa wa Shinyanga in Swahili) covers 18,555 km² (7,164 sq mi), an area comparable in size to Fiji. It is located in northwestern Tanzania, bordered by Mwanza, Mara, and Kagera Regions to the north, Tabora Region to the south, Kigoma Region to the west, and Simiyu and a small section of Singida Region to the east.

Capital & Population

The regional capital is Shinyanga Municipality, a key administrative and economic center. According to the 2022 national census, Shinyanga had a population of 2,241,299, making it one of Tanzania’s more densely populated regions.
